The Music of Today for the People of Tomorrow

The Flaming Lips, a rock band from Norman, Oklahoma announced that they are planning a musical. The musical which will be called Yoshimi and will be loosely based off of their 2002 album, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. Wayne Coyne, the leader of The Flaming Lips said that the band is planning the musical with the co-director of The Who’s Tommy, to create something “"hokey and wonderful and poignant and powerful."

The Musical will include songs mainly from their album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, which I thought was a great album. I am really looking forward to this musical. I think that Wayne Coyne and the rest of the band will come out with an amazing musical due to the band’s immense creativity in their music. Unfortunately there is not a set date for the debut of this musical.

This is the first experience The Flaming Lip’s have had in musical theatre, although in 2008 they came out with the movie, Christmas on Mars, which was about the band members and their friends.

So excited! :D

I fully expect this musical to push the boundaries of all others, just like the Flaming Lips have done in terms of musical style. Can't wait!!-AS
